Drawstring Bag Tutorial
This is the one project that I get almost all of my beginner clients to sew. I have lost track of how many times I’ve helped someone make it but it’s always an enjoyable make.
It’s a good fit for a 2 hour lesson, allowing time to focus on forming good habits with the sewing machine basics. It’s lots of practise with following straight seams whilst also learning a simple technique for lining bags.
It’s also a really great repeatable project, perfect for getting in more practise with a new sewing machine. It can easily be scaled up or down for all sorts of useful bags from lavender bags to laundry bags and it looks great with the addition of some fun appliqué.
Simple projects like this are great for sustainable sewing, using up scraps of fabric or reusing fabric from preloved items - let the size of the scrap determine the size of bag you make. It’s also makes a great eco-friendly gift bag that can be part of the present or re-gifted over & over again.
I hope you like my new design for sharing sewing project tutorials and that you find it easy to follow.
Enjoy your sewing!
